Emperor and Fool is the company, founded in 2006 in order to accept and acquire jobs in the area of media and IT. The proces of film- & video production at that time, was reborn as a digital proces. From the birth we were there, with the great honor to introduce ‘digital’ to everyone involved in the workflow of television production.

Avid Media Composer was the first brand of film & video editing software with a server & client based workflow. And as a result that allowed us to work with the most high-end workstation-, network- and server solutions from the start. It has taken a while, but when it arrived it was easy to find out how to do the same with Premiere Pro and Da Vinci Resolve for example.

Experience with the production process of television programs like ‘Eén vandaag’ (news), TROS ‘Vermist’ (reporting weekly) and Big Brother (reality entertainment) in The Netherlands, Germany, Argentina and the U.S.A, placed me on the brim between the video production-staff and the hard- and software developers.

At that time we were all on a steep learning curve. I still like that. Though my focus was to support video production from a technical point of view, guarding and expanding the environment for maximum creativity is my natural goal. Involving people is essential.

Enjoying that effort, I realized I would at some point start using my own creative skills in a professional manner as well. In 2015 I was able to add 3D production with Cinema 4D to the list of knowledge and skills. Blender, DaVince Resolve and Ableton are now my preferred creative tools. Even Autodesk Revit came by, as it was the necessary BIM tool for another type of client.

This is how the idea of ‘Emperor Consultancy’ and ‘Fool Productions’ came to life.

Over time I provided my clients with many different media-related services. I have found my love for open source software and virtualization with docker. As off  2020 I can rely on the cooperation with a software developer. We are currently working on the first peer to peer streaming video server customized to the needs of the expanding group of new media creators online.
